Oetzi vs Syften: keyword alerts or scored conversations

Syften watches a long list of developer communities with keyword alerts. Oetzi scores every match for buying intent and drafts the reply you approve.

Competitor facts are what their own pages said on September 16, 2026. “Not published” means we could not find it stated. Oetzi's numbers come from the same constants the pricing page reads. Syften pricing

Pick Syften if you want the widest net over developer and founder communities and you are happy to read every hit yourself. Pick Oetzi if you would rather see fewer matches, each scored for buying intent with the reason written out, and a reply already drafted in your voice. The tradeoff is coverage against judgement.

What Syften does well

Syften covers ground almost nobody else reaches: Reddit, Hacker News, X, and Bluesky through Mastodon, Indie Hackers, Slack, Discourse, Stack Overflow, YouTube, GitHub, Lobste.rs, Dev.to, and podcasts. For a developer tool that breadth is the point: your buyers argue in GitHub issues and Stack Overflow answers, not only on the big networks. Syften runs sixteen per platform pages and an F5Bot alternative page, so it knows this job well enough to teach it. It publishes case studies with dollar outcomes in the title and an MCP page for AI agents, which is rare here. Its pricing page lists the plans.

Keyword alerts or intent scoring

Syften's mechanic is keyword based alerts rather than intent scoring. Match the word, get the notification. That is fast, and on a quiet keyword it works fine. It stops working when your product name is a common word, or when the phrase you care about is "we are moving off X" rather than your brand.

Oetzi starts from a sentence instead of a word. You describe the conversation you want in plain English, and it compiles that into native searches per platform plus a scoring rubric. Every match comes back with a 0 to 100 intent score and the reason it qualified, tagged for who is talking: buyer, current customer, feature request, or competitor user. Read the keyword alert entry for why the two approaches diverge.

The second difference is what arrives with the match. Syften sends the alert. Oetzi drafts two replies in your voice for any conversation and waits for you to approve one, then drafts posts from the same week's threads.

Where the platform lists differ

Syften reaches more places. Oetzi listens on seven: X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Hacker News, and Substack Notes, and does not watch GitHub, Stack Overflow, Discourse, or podcasts. If your signal lives in issue threads, Syften wins on coverage. If it lives on Reddit and X and you want the noise filtered first, the shorter list with scoring is the better trade.

Pick Syften if

  • Your buyers talk in GitHub issues, Stack Overflow, Discourse, or Slack communities
  • You want every mention of a term and you will triage them yourself
  • You only need the alert, because you already know what to say back

Pick Oetzi if

  • You get too many alerts and too little signal, and want each match scored with a reason
  • You want the reply drafted for you and nothing published without approval
  • You want listening to feed posting, so this week's threads become next week's posts
  • You want the same workflow available to an agent over MCP with spend caps

Questions

Does Syften score intent?

No. Syften runs keyword based alerts rather than intent scoring, which is its stated design. You get every post containing your term and you decide which ones matter. Oetzi scores each match 0 to 100 for buying intent and writes out the reason, so you can audit why a thread qualified and skip the rest without reading them.

Does Syften cover more platforms than Oetzi?

Yes, on count. Syften watches a longer list, including GitHub, Stack Overflow, Dev.to, Lobste.rs, and podcasts. Oetzi listens on seven platforms and adds Threads and Substack Notes, which Syften does not list. Neither list is a superset of the other, so the honest test is where your buyers actually post rather than which number is bigger.

Can I run both?

Yes. Some teams keep Syften on the developer sources Oetzi does not watch and let Oetzi own the scored conversations, the replies, and the posting. The overlap is Reddit, Hacker News, X, and Bluesky, where you would pay twice for the same posts, so decide which tool owns those before you run them together.

Oetzi is an AI marketer for founders who need users. It finds the threads where people ask for a product like yours on seven platforms, checks whether the AI engines recommend you, and drafts replies, posts, and short video in your voice.
