Oetzi for technical founders: marketing without learning it
An AI marketer for technical founders. Scored matches from Hacker News, Reddit, and X, drafts in your voice, and every capability behind an MCP server, API, and CLI.
By Max Gillespie, founder of Oetzi
You can ship a feature in a weekend and you have never written a marketing plan. Oetzi is an AI marketer for technical founders: it listens on seven platforms for the conversations where your buyers are deciding, scores each match for buying intent with the reason written out, and drafts replies and posts in your voice. You approve everything. Every capability is also an MCP tool, a REST call, and a CLI command, so you can run it from the terminal you already live in.
Where do technical buyers ask in public?
Hacker News first. Ask HN threads about tooling, and the comment sections of Show HN posts where someone writes "we tried three of these and none handles X." Reddit next, in r/devops, r/webdev, r/selfhosted, r/ExperiencedDevs, and the subreddit for your language or stack, where the thread is "what are people using for X in 2026" or "is there anything like this tool but self-hostable." On X it is an engineer venting about a vendor outage with replies naming alternatives. Bluesky has a growing engineering crowd asking the same questions. LinkedIn carries the CTO version, "evaluating options for X, what has worked for you."
These are the threads where people are actively evaluating. The keyword tools catch the ones that name a competitor. The valuable ones often name nobody.
How does an engineer run marketing from the terminal?
Paste the URL in the portal or call the setup capability from Claude Code. Oetzi reads the site, extracts segments, competitors, voice, and buying questions, and drafts one listening signal per product. Edit the sentence, pick a cadence, and the last seven days backfill.
From then on the inbox is a queue. Each match has a 0 to 100 intent score, a written reason, and a tag for buyer, current customer, feature request, or competitor user. Pull the queue over the MCP server or POST /api/v1/capabilities/{name}. Every paid call returns a quote first and runs only with approved: true and a max_credits cap, so an agent cannot spend past what you allowed. Long work returns a job you can wait on. Webhooks and an event stream exist for the rest.
Reply drafting works the same way. Two variants in your voice, built from a voice doc trained on your own posts. You edit and post. Reply checks on your own posts run two and eight hours after publishing.
What does 100 credits buy a technical founder?
Reading is free everywhere: inbox, API, MCP, events, webhooks, people graph reads, post metrics, tracked links, and the outcomes ledger.
A sweep of one signal across every platform is 2 credits, refunded when nothing qualifies. Two signals three times a week is about 48 credits a month. A drafting run is 1 credit, so two posts a week is about 8. A share-of-model check is 2 credits per buying question across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, and Google AI, so five questions monthly is 10. Around 66 of the included 100, with the rest for a people graph pull at 1 credit when a competitor's launch post gets busy. Top-ups are $1 a credit and never expire.
What will Oetzi not do for a technical founder?
It will not message strangers, scrape a list, or send cold outreach. It is a marketing tool. It finds the thread, drafts the words, and stops. It will not post without approval either. Autopilot for scheduled posts exists and is off by default. Scoped keys mean a read key cannot post and a write key cannot spend. See the MCP docs for the key model.
Questions
Is there an AI marketer for technical founders that works from Claude Code?
Yes. Oetzi ships a SKILL.md for Claude Code and OpenClaw, an MCP server at /api/mcp, a REST API, and a CLI. Every capability sits behind all four. Paid calls return a quote and run only with approval and a credit cap. Reading the inbox and the people graph is free through any of them.
How do I market a developer product on Hacker News without being spammy?
Answer questions people asked. Oetzi scores each Hacker News thread for buying intent and drafts a reply in your voice that addresses the specific question. You edit and post as yourself. The thread has to be real, the answer has to be useful, and it has to arrive while the thread is live. That is the whole method.
Does social listening for technical founders cover Reddit and Bluesky?
It covers Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Hacker News, and Substack Notes. You describe the conversation in one sentence. Oetzi compiles it into native searches per platform and a scoring rubric, then backfills seven days and sweeps on the cadence you choose. Translation to English is free.
